Abstract

The study of educational theology is a study of Islamic doctrines regarding education where the main focus is the relationship between God and education, so the source of knowledge of educational theology is the Qur'an and Hadith. These doctrines (dogmas) are examined through rational-abstract methods that are logically validated. The concept of education theology desired by Al-Faruqi is education that develops a traditional system (Islam) and a modern (Western) system by adapting to the vision of Islam which aims to integrate both Islamic systems and Western systems and eliminate the shortcomings of both systems. Thus, the thinking of Islamic education Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi about educational theology is very important to do more in-depth study.  This study aims to find out the thoughts of Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi about Tawheed and tauhid-based education theology. The research method used is an interpretive method of content analysis. This is a false text study method. Text study is a study that focuses on the analysis or interpretation of written material based on the context. The results were obtained, First, Thought Ismail Raji Al-Faruqi about tauhid includes: 1) monotheism as the core of Islamic teachings trying to internalize (appreciation) tauhid into all aspects of life so that life can walk as servitude to Allah alone; 2) Tawhid as a religious experience has great consequences for world history so that a Muslim is prepared to sacrifice anything, including his life; 3) monotheism as a world view contains four principles (1) a testimony that there is no god but Allah means that reality is dual; (2) the witness that there is no god but Allah means that God is God of everything that is not God; (3) God is the final destination of the universe; (4) monotheism means that humans are able to do and have freedom to do or not do; 4) Tawheed as the essence of Islamic culture has two dimensions, namely methodological dimensions and contextual dimensions. The methodological dimension includes three principles; unity, rational and tolerant. Tawhid has a contextual dimension that has metaphysic, ethical, axiological, community (ummah) and aesthetic principles; and 5) monotheism as the principle of family and moral education, namely preparing children to become servants who serve through moral education. An education that directs a child's potential to do good and always remembers God at every step; Secondly, the monotheism-based education theology according to Isma'il Raji Al-Faruqi is removing the dichotomy of the Islamic education system and the Western education system by removing the weaknesses of methodology in the second education system. According to al-Faruqi, efforts to eliminate the dualism of the Islamic education system and the Western education system are based on tawhid as the paradigm of Islamic education which re-poured disciplines under the Islamic framework by making theories, methods, principles and objectives subject to unity Allah, the unity of the universe, the unity of truth and the unity of knowledge, the unity of life, and the unity of humanity.
